Ori and the Blind Forest was initially released on March 11, 2015 for Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. It was later rereleased for the Nintendo Switch on September 27, 2019. Ori and the Blind Forest is a platform-adventure Metroidvania game developed by Moon Studios. It tells a compelling story about finding the light in the darkest of times. Throughout the game Ori is tasked to bring light back to the world and revive the Spirit Tree. Ori with the help of Seni ,a small blue orb, travels across the forest in a quest to restore the three main elements. Which supports the balance of the land: waters, winds and warmth. Throughout the game players are able to find a variety of collectables and learn new abilities for Ori, which allow the player to unlock new areas. The three main collectables are health cells, energy cells and ability cells. Health cells grant the player with more health and energy cells increase the energy Ori and Seni have. Energy cells are used for some of the more powerful abilities in the game and become important in unlocking new areas. In addition the player can use energy cells to create a skill link which allows the player to save the game. The ability cell allows the player to upgrade Ori and Seni in the form of a skill tree. The skill tree has three branches each focusing on a specific element of game play. The first branch is focused on combat allowing Ori and Seni to do greater damage to the opponent. The second branch is focused on efficiency, allowing the player to find collectables with relative ease. The third and final branch focuses on maneuverability, allowing Ori to transfer the world easier. Overall Ori and the Blind Forest is a terrific game and is well worth playing. The game has a compelling story, interesting combat and fun but challenging platforming.
