Shadow of the Tomb Raider was released on September 14, 2018 and continues the story from the 2015 game, Rise of the Tomb Raider. The story follows Lara Craft in her continued battle against Trinity. This time, Lara travels to the legendary city of Paititi, in order to stop a Mayan Apocalypse she unleashed. The game has very similar combat to the other games in the series featuring a Bow, Knife, Pistol, Rifle and Shotgun. As you progress through the game you unlock weapons and are able to customize them and upgrade them to better fit your play style. Throughout the game you are also able to upgrade Lara by gaining XP which can be obtained through a variety of different tasks. From studying artifacts to killing enemies or gathering resources for crafting new material. The player is also able to find new skills by completing challenge tombs which are a series of puzzles, that if found, and completed, reward the player with a new skill and an additional skill point. Some new features added to the franchise are equipable outfits that give the player advantages in battle. Such as the Vest of the Empress Jaguar, which makes it harder for enemies to detect Lara. Players can find new outfits by exploring Crypts or purchasing them from merchants. Shadow of the Tomb Raider features more of an emphasis on stealth than the other games, allowing for some more variation in gameplay. Overall Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a must play from those who enjoyed the other games in the franchise. My main complaint about the game is that the gameplay feels too similar to the others in the reboot franchise, specifically Rise of the Tomb Raider.
